MINIMALISM: A DOCUMENTARY ABOUT THE IMPORTANT THINGS (2015) is a documentary about minimalism. It was directed by Matt D’Avella and stars, Joshua Fields Millburn and Ryan Nicodemus, known as ‘The Minimalists’, after a BLOG of the same name launched in 2010 and a book they authored in 2013 titled EVERYTHING THAT REMAINS: A MEMOIR BY THE MINIMALISTS. The also authored two other books; MINIMALISM: LIVE A MEANINGFUL LIFE and MINIMALISM: ESSENTIAL ESSAYS In addition to documenting the story of ‘The Minimalists’, the documentary also takes the audience inside the lives of minimalists from all walks of life – families, entrepreneurs, architects, artists, journalists, and scientists, all of whom are striving to live a meaningful life with less. The documentary also explores on the topic of MICRO HOMES, featuring; Architect Frank Mascia, who says that “nothing is more responsible than living in the smallest home that you possibility can”; Tammy Strobel, author of YOU CAN BUY HAPPINESS (AND ITS CHEAP) who downsized into a tiny house on wheels; Jay Austin, Tiny House Designer; Graham Hill, founder of TREEHUGGER.COM, an eco blog, and LIFE EDITED, a compact compartment consultancy.
